WPF Training Day
Location: BlogsDotNetDevNet Meetings
Posted by: host Sunday, September 23, 2007 7:52 PM

When: Wednesday 31st October 2007, doors open 9:00am, training starts 9:30am

Where: UWE (Unniversity of the West of England), Frenchay, Bristol (see FAQ for directions and a map) - Room PRO1 (next to car parks 1, 2 and 3)

What: A day of Windows Presentation Foundation training

Who: Patrick Long, Senior Consultant, Charteris plc

Why: Because Windows Forms are yesterday's technology and WPF is undeniable in class and potential. And because SilverLight gives you some of the power of WPF in a web application and co-exists with regular web technologies in regular web pages.

How do I sign up for this meeting: Send an email to meetings at dotnetdevnet.com and quote your user name and the WPF Training Day (note that places are limited to 10 people)

Abstract:

A full day's worth of WPF training for a fraction of the normal cost. Places are limited to 10 attendees. Here's what you need to know:-

  • You must be able to bring your own laptop
  • The laptop must be configured with .NET Framework 3.0 (WPF) and Visual Studio 2005 Extensions
  • You must be able to bring a cheque for £100 made payable to Charteris
  • The price does not include lunch or refreshments

The course is a 1 day version of the 3 day training course that Pat has been running recently. Pat will cover as much of the course as time allows.

Hi - Does anyone have any specific details of how our laptops should be configured for this training? I have a virtual machine with VS2008 Beta 2 installed - I would have thought VS2008 would be required for .NET 3.0 - not VS2005?

Re: WPF Training Day    By admin on Monday, October 08, 2007 8:01 AM
James,

Visual Studio 2008 Beta 2 will be ok because it includes .NET Framework 3.0 and the VS extensions. IIRC I think there are some minor differences between the template names but I really can't see this making any difference.
